Blox Fruits
By Paquito Jr Conde | April 27, 2025
Update 5 focused on expanding content while improving stability and performance. Players received a new fruit that changed combat options, a new unarmed fighting style to diversify builds, and a new island that opened progression. The update also raised the level cap and applied a long list of balance tweaks and bug fixes. Taken together, these changes aimed to refresh the meta and smooth the gameplay experience for both new and returning players.
Gravity Fruit — A core addition that gives players control over movement and pull effects. Gravity fruit introduces area-based attacks that can pull or push enemies and can be used to control fights and reposition foes. It adds a tactical layer to PvP and mob crowd control in PvE, and fits long-tail strategies like "crowd-control zoning with Gravity" and "positioning-play Gravity combos."
Water Kung Fu — An unarmed fighting style inspired by fluid motion and chaining strikes. It emphasizes quick combos, follow-up counters, and positional follow-throughs. Players who prefer close-range, combo-driven play can use Water Kung Fu to complement fruits that lack melee follow-ups. Its design encourages players to mix unarmed burst with ranged fruit abilities for hybrid builds.
Update 5 did not focus on introducing many new swords; instead, it improved or balanced existing weapons and their move sets. Some swords received small buffs or nerfs to align their power with the new meta. New items in this update were mostly quality-of-life accessories and tournament rewards that support player progression and competitive play.
Fountain City — The new island added content, enemies, and quest lines to bridge players toward higher levels. The level cap increased from the previous cap to 750, enabling extended progression and new reward tiers for late-game players.
The update included targeted buffs and nerfs across several fruits and weapons to rebalance the combat environment. Examples include slight damage adjustments on transformations, reduced overpowered combo windows, and cast-time improvements for some move sets. Numerous bug fixes resolved issues like stuck GUI, sound problems, and fruit spawning glitches to improve reliability.
Players wanted meaningful new content, improvements to progression, and fixes for long-standing gameplay bugs. Specifically, the community hoped for a new fruit, new fighting options, a new island to explore, and performance improvements. Update 5 delivered many of these expectations while laying groundwork for future updates.
Update 5 was released in July 2019. The patch included the new fruit, fighting style, island, and balance adjustments along with the system updates described above.
Update 5 refreshed the game by adding the Gravity fruit, the Water Kung Fu fighting style, a new island called Fountain City, and many balance and stability improvements. It raised the level cap to expand progression, introduced competitive rewards, and fixed several quality-of-life issues. The update was an overall step toward a more balanced and varied gameplay experience.
