The Cockatrice is a super-rare Divine pet in Grow a Garden. It’s best known for two handy passives that help your garden — one that can turn nearby fruits Silver/Gold, and another that spits venom to speed hatches, poison fruit (Toxic), or give pets XP.
How to obtain the Cockatrice 🥚
The Cockatrice can only come from an Enchanted Egg. Enchanted Eggs are a rare reward from the Wishing Well during the Fairy Event.
Tips to improve your chances:
- Grow plants with the Glimmering mutation.
- Offer those Glimmering plants into the Wishing Well to fill the Power bar and earn reward tiers.
- Higher reward tiers give a much better chance at Enchanted Eggs — aim for the top tiers when you can.
Once you have an Enchanted Egg, the Cockatrice hatch chance from that egg is very small (around 1% per egg).

Silver Screech 🔊
Occasionally the Cockatrice screeches. Nearby fruits get a chance to become Silver, and a much smaller chance to become Gold. This is great for boosting the value of your crops.

Periodically the Cockatrice spits venom at up to five nearby garden objects (fruits, pets, or eggs). The venom has different effects depending on the target:
- Fruits: receive the Toxic mutation.
- Eggs: receive a reduction to remaining hatch time (speeds up hatching).
- Pets: gain bonus XP from the venom hit.
These effects happen on a repeating timer and scale up as the Cockatrice levels — higher level means more frequent and stronger effects.
